Well, despite all prior misconceptions and stereotypes. I love Malmö. I'll always be a Norrlänning at heart, but honestly this place is pretty rad. The Turning Torso, bridge to Denmark, and the most futuristic and clean train transportation is absolutely fantastic. The language is coming along, it's really not too hard to understand it's just trying to take them seriously. It's ridiculous.. but actually pretty good.
After about nine hours of travel I arrived at Malmö Central. I walked out, and the first thing I see is cops chasing down a few girls. (It's about 9:45) and I just wait for the Elders. And keep waiting, and keep waiting until I realize they may not be coming and end up asking someone to use their phone to call. They didn't answer but I left a message. Another half hour went and I was still unsure so asked 5 more people for a phone, most said no but finally I got one who let me call and then Elders were on there way.
Two hours and a chicken wrap later, I am greeted by the wonderful Elders. It was pretty funny though. Lost in Skåne.
We've honestly just been booking it around, trying to understand what this thing is they call a town. It's huge! Busses going every direction, three hour church, and loads of foreign things to the Visby slash Övik missionary. I'm still a bit lost, just following my comp around and meeting people. It's a good time though. I live in a 4-man apartment and it is honestly a blast to be around other missionaries, I forgot how nice it really is. We just go out, do work all day, and come home and it's a party. I love it!
I'm going to Stockholm via airplane for two days of leadership training, so looking forward to that.
Oh yeah, we baptized! Ha ha, this guy they've been working with had a date set up for the first Sunday I was here, so after a solid church service I got to witness a baptism. Always an extremely spiritual experience.
It's strange though, because naturally I'm throwing the Kääriäs and mothers name all over the place, but it doesn't seem like their influence has reached down here.. because no one knows them! It's like a different world. Stockholm and Malmö.
We have four elders and two sisters in our area. It's pretty cool. Lund has the same and those 6 areas make up my zone. It's small, but it's nicely cut off from the rest of Sweden.
Life just kind of goes on as we prepare for some super Zone Conferences and trainings and all sorts of good times here in the Sweden Stockholm mission.
Ha det så bwa!
