Utby,
That, is my next destination. I was originally planned to go to Skellefteå, way up in the cold cold north. . but that was changed and it looks as if my dying place will be the same as my birth place.
Göteborg. (Gothenburg)
We went to sports night for the last time on Thursday, and I met Jonathan there! We played and had a good time, talked a lot. That was super cool.
I will be district leader over 8, and companions with someone who just finished his training. . an Elder Williams. I think the best part of this gig is the dang center in Göteborg. Í miss that place. Probably be able to give Timothy (a cousin) a call!
I leave Wednesday early morning, and it's only a 3 hour train ride so that'll go super quick. . and then my life totally starts fresh as I head to Utby.
This final week was good, although humbling. I had an experience at the beginning of the week where I was tired, we came home and crashed at 9ish. . got up late the next morning and things just were a little bit off. . I prayed sincerely, more sincerely than average as that tends to be a problem when you pray so often. . and things just picked back up, and I found some amazing scriptures in the D and C. Chapter 1 24-29. A simple reminder that we're going to mess up, not be sincere all the time, but as long as we keep repenting, keep being humble, he'll put us back on the path and we'll see that all of this is worth it.
I took this newfound glory and applied it with all our teaches. Later in the day we met a referral who simply put, wants to change her life. She was very willing and although we met at a cafe in Vällingby the spirit was strong and we all felt it, and acknowledged it. We set up a baptismal date there, and things have gone a little rough with her father being so sick. But miracles kind of hit you when you least expect it.
Later I gave this same message of repentance to Alberto, and we talked for a while and then the whole family fed us. As we were talking the newly activated member mentions, during the course of our conversation that he's drinking coffee, at least a cup a day. I was caught off guard, kind of just said, ''Wait, coffee?'' and than nothing to the affirmative. I didn't want to be judgmental, as that's my least favorite quality in a human being. . but you can't be drinking coffee and passing the sacrament. I was wondering on the way home what to do, when we got a text from him.
''No coffee for me guys from now on. Thanks for the heads up. It just took Sargent's disappointed face to understand that that is probably God's face when I drink coffee. May the will of the Lord be done.''
The spirit is strong, and will take care of things. I was trying not to look disappointed in order not to offend, but clearly there was a message that needed to be conveyed. One of the many lessons out of this is the truth Nephi teaches in in 1 Nephi 5:22 - talking about how the plates were carried with them in the wilderness for a wise purpose. God is in control of this work, it is only the work of man that is frustrated, but not God's. We can't fail when we do our part, and when we don't do our part, he's there to accept our willingness to change and consecrate the whole lot of it to our best - regardless of what happened all depending on our sincerity.
