Well, the whole mission is in a bit of a somber state at the moment as an Elder Bailey serving in Västerås, Sweden was killed yesterday in a pedestrian car accident. We don't know details, but I'm sure every companionship in the mission has been talking about the spirit world, and everyone seems to have a more united purpose here.
It's strange, but life still goes on. My companion made it safely to Vendelsö and Elder Tanner showed in his stead. It turns out Elder Tanners mother also happens to be Swedish, only she grew up in the Karlskrona and Stockholm area of Sweden. Still, we comment, and reminisce about past Swedish American Christmasses and Alfons. . osv.
After only 3 weeks of being in Göteborg, I feel quite lost day to day as the Göteborg tram and bus system are more difficult to learn that I thought they would be. The weather is a pretty mild, usually pretty cold winds and temperatures around 9 degrees. Whatever the heck that is Fahrenheit. or however you spell that.
Pehzman is praying about a date right now, we had a super good teach with him so we are hoping that the time will come soon because he is so ready. Like I said, every teach he just spits out more and more correct doctrine.
Eero could not meet with us . . but we found a bunch o' people this week from simple swing bys, despite me being lost in the city of Göteborg.
I had an interesting day yesterday. I have a method of teaching, and going through the lessons and the Preach My Gospel steps and what not. . which is fine. But I had a thought to rely even more on the Spirit during our teaches yesterday, and to just say what comes to mind as I try to explain things.
The first teach was with a less active that forgot he was a member, and I led the teach with us and the sisters and super good questions were coming out, and he's super interested and we set up a super good system with him and how he's going to learn all the lessons.
The second teach was with an Ethiopan guy who had the common problem of just not grasping the idea of authority. I felt the Spirit again, guiding my words as I put away the standard plans and although he did not grasp the concept, I felt the Spirit more than usual and it was clear to me that he is not ready at this time to accept it.
Another testimony of the simple truth. If we learn to recognize, and then follow the Spirit. We cannot go wrong. We'll always make. . there's really very little else we really need to know for salvation.
