There's this lady in our ward from Britain who is absolutely crazy. Jules is her name, and we had dinner at her house last night. Just sitting there listening to three brits go off in there super awesome accent, just makes you realize how diverse the world is. I'm very Swedish and reserved, so I understand the people I work amongst. But these Brits are the complete opposite! I just sat there, and literally said nothing while they made the funniest comments in their awesome accents.
This week was a good one. I got to see some old missionary buddies again, and we kept preparing Charles for his baptism. We were honestly skeptical it would happen because Charles just was not understanding the importance of authority - at all.
We prayed and prayed about it and then went to teach him. The spirit came in that teach and with the help of members he just lit up and said . . Oh. . They needed the authority! Lightbulb. And he was ready.
We continued to work hard during the day, talking with everyone, despite the amount of times we were cancelled on this week. In our hard work though we found a member who moved here from Nigeria, living with his non member friend and he wants to start coming to church and be a part of the ward. We also found a Swedish guy who let us in, had a Book of Mormon in the past but never officially met with missionaries. We taught him the Restoration and he committed to pray, said he'd be baptized if it was true. . and we have high hopes for him.
Charles took the step and was baptized this week. The member, Kirk, who he lives with was reluctant to do the actual ordinance because of his bad shoulders. Charles calls Kirk, ''Daddy'' and was persistent that Daddy baptize him. When he protested his shoulders, Charles said, ''The Holy Spirit will bestow power on him so that he can do it. I know he can. Daddy will baptize me.'' Who can argue with that faith? And that is exactly what happened. Elder Williams got dressed in white in order to be there in case Kirk could not lift him out of the water, but as the ordinance happened. . it went smoothly and in Kirks words ''We were not the only two in the font that day.''
And that's the feeling we get here. Miracles happening with faith.
