Jay was transferred North to Örnsköldsvik, Sweden in October. When he got the news- it just kept getting better... realizing that he would be serving only 2 hours North of his grandparents that live in Sundsvall. The missionaries in Örnsköldsvik do missionary splits with the Elders in Sundsvall! We- and Jay, were ecstatic.
The best part about traveling to Ö-vik.
Part of Jay's letter on 10/15/12 "Holy cow. This is like the week I've been expecting since day one of my mission call! Oh man. So Tuesdays ride was pleasant. I got on a train and waved goodbye to my fellower Göteborgers at 6ish in the AM. Headed out to Stockholm, and due to the stops we arrived at 10. I stepped of the train with two heavy bags in the Stockholm Central, and was overwhelmed. I had half hour to get to my train, but I had no idea where to go. I love how you described T-Central as ''not for the faint hearted'' because it's totally true. I walked in a circle once, and then I decided to head down the escalators after the majority of people went down them and I couldn't see another option. Holy people. There was so many! But luckily I noticed signs and kept on following them to Spår (track) 8, and there stood the train to Sundsvall with 20 min to spare. Anti climactic I know, but just the amount of people, and the being alone in the station and going up and down escalators was an experience in itself. Well I kind of was just marveling at the fact the train was going to my birth place, and I sat down, and fell asleep. Woke up at 12 (on and off) and got my lunch that they had included in the ticket. I took a video of the landscape because it was pretty. Sweden. Awesome.
I arrived in Sundsvall at 2pm. I had earlier thought that I may see them (my mom's FAMILY!), but then brushed the thought off because that would require them to drop everything and meet me at the station which is who knows how far from their house, I'll see them this Sunday, and all sorts of thoughts such as. Well. I walked around trying to find spår 4. I saw it, and was lost in thought while walking to it. When I hear ''HEY!'' and I look up and am in complete shock. Kristina (Jay's aunt), the girls, and mormor and morfar (grandma and grandpa)! I was so caught off guard, so happy, and just bewildered. I didn't say anything for the first minute because I didn't know what language to speak. Mormor (gma) asked a question in Swedish and I answered and I said as much Swedish as I possibly could. Kristina helped me if I did'nt understand. It was awesome. Morfar (gpa) is probably the funniest man alive and I only talked to them for 10 min. He was jumping trying to be as tall as me, and stuffing 4-5 small light thingies in my pocket. ''want another one?'' ''Want another one?'' and kept going. Mormor and Kristina had to stop him! So funny! I was laughing so hard. Then he counseled me in English to not focus on girls. Pretty funny. Well We said good bye and I was off to Ö-vik in a daze, just with a huge smile on my face. It was so funny. I sat there thinking for the next two hours. This is true joy. I don't remember the last time I was this happy. It happened because of family. "
